Revolution Lighting Technologies Selected by GB Energie LED for LED Lighting Retrofit of Washington D.C. Charter School

Lighting Distributor Installs Revolution Lighting Technologies' LED Solutions to Reduce Energy Costs, Optimize Light Levels, and Eliminate Maintenance Expenses; Retrofit Project Expected to Reduce Ideal Academy Public Charter School's Annual Energy Use by 65%

STAMFORD, CT -- (Marketwired) -- 03/17/16 -- Revolution Lighting Technologies (NASDAQ: RVLT), a leader in advanced LED lighting technology solutions, today announced that GB Energie LED, a minority, woman-owned business committed to sourcing sustainable energy solutions, has installed its LED tube technology for Ideal Academy Public Charter School in Washington D.C. The completion of a "Fund, Furnish and Install" LED lighting retrofit for the charter school included the installation of Revolution Lighting's T8 SEP LED Tubes and Uni-Fit T5 Ballast Ready LED Tubes, combined with occupancy sensor lighting controls throughout all classroom areas.

The project, completed in February 2016, sought to decrease energy consumption while lowering utility and maintenance costs, while providing a more optimal light level for both students and faculty. The retrofit, using Revolution Lighting's LED lighting solutions, combined with control solutions, will reduce Ideal Academy's monthly lighting costs by approximately 65%.

"Through the adoption of LED lighting we look forward to continuing our efforts to become a more sustainable and energy efficient educational institution, while providing more productive and healthy learning environments for our students," said Dr. George Rutherford, Principal of Ideal Academy Public Charter School.

Washington D.C. based Ideal Academy Public Charter School is a community committed to excellence in education by providing a nurturing learning environment that enables its students to become competent and contributing global citizens. At Ideal Academy, the whole child is embraced -- mind, body and character -- providing them not only cognitive development, but also social, emotional, physical, and creative growth.

"GB Energie LED is pleased to partner with Revolution Lighting to deliver its high quality, energy efficient LED lighting solutions to this D.C.-based charter school, one of many in the metropolitan area," said Dr. Gloria B. Herndon, President and CEO of GB Energie LED. "This project is illustrative of how educational institutions are increasingly integrating energy efficiency measures, such as LED lighting, into their premises in order to reduce emissions, energy and maintenance costs, while also providing an improved learning environment through superior light output. We see this as a long-term trend and expect continued growth in the education markets."

According to the Department of Energy, lighting is the second largest source of energy use in K-12 schools, second only to space heating and cooling. As cited throughout a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency report, school buildings are often able to achieve upwards of greater than 40% energy cost savings through lighting installations and retrofits. With approximately 98,000 public schools nationwide, including more than 6% representing charter schools, energy efficient lighting solutions is significant, and represents a tremendous market opportunity for Revolution Lighting Technologies and its T8 and T5 LED tube technology.

Recently completed education projects, including this work at Ideal Academy Public Charter School, have expanded Revolution Lighting's continued penetration into the education sector. Completed projects in 2015 include a retrofit at Johnson & Wales University and a multi-phase installation throughout campus buildings at Iona College, a retrofit at Lehman College, and $2.2 million in contracts with separate school districts in New York and New Jersey.
